The author, an accomplished civil engineer in love with his city, says he wrote this to get New Yorkers to value the city's history. (His results have been mixed at best.) Period covered is 1816 to 1860; map is a reprint of an 1817 original by Thomas Poppleton.Condition of this book:Covers darkened, overall very good. Map is misfolded with a few short tears, but very good. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting.
