'The Whole Duty of Man' is a Protestant devotional work written by Richard Allestree who prescribes various devotional exercises for a healthy Christian life. According to Bickersteth,
"'The Whole Duty of Man' was a practical book to counteract the Antinomians and contains an impressive introduction on the care of the soul, the devotional part is full and useful, and it has a good statement of relative duties, but it does not exhibit prominently the only principles and strength on which man can perform them." (Lowndes 1229)
This 1682 catechism was written as a commentary on Allestree's 'Duty of Man', designed to clarify and simplify his devotional exercises.

1848 Holy Lyfe of Saint Werburge Old English Poem Henry Bradshaw Chester England
Henry Bradshaw was a 15th-century English poet best known for his poem "The Holy Lyfe and History of Saynt Werburge". Bradshaw intended to cover the life of patron saint of his hometown of Chester, England. Saint Werbrugh was a princess who was known for her convent reforms throughout England.
This 1848 edition of Bradshaw's 'Holy Lyfe' was edited by Edward Hawkins who published it as a 19th-century facsimile of the 1521 printing, complete with illustrations in the style of the original woodcuts.

1684 Japanese Mathematics Yoshinori Abacus Math Illustrated Magic Squares Kyoto

A rare, 17th century Japanese woodblock print of "Sanpouketsugishou" written by Isomura Yoshinori, a mathematician. Isomura was called 'the master of the abacus' because he solved problems that would otherwise not be possible without using algebra, and the abacus features in many illustrations as does his interest in 'magic squares, magic circles and magic wheels.' This book contains solutions to 12 problems published in an earlier work and provides 150 more.

This rare edition is written in the typical handwritten column format bound in the "fukurotoji" style (Keio) complete with illustrations of mathematic problems, shapes, diagrams, and people and animals using an abacus throughout!
