"The first bibliography of bibliographies with critical commentaries, listing selected subject bibliographies and public and private catalogues."-Grolier Club, Bibliography, 120. Archer Taylor considered Peignot's critical list of nearly 500 private library catalogues to be "very important'" (p. 187) (and I agree; I have considered it one of my chief guides for more than thirty years).
