Reproduction of Illustrations of Ornamental Metal-Work Forming L'Art du Serrurier [ chiefly lock-escutcheons and keys ] by Jousse, Mathurin ( Mathurin Jousse de la Fleche ] - 1889

Amsterdam: Department of Science and Art, 1889 Hardback 235mm x 285mm tall. (9.25" x 11.25" approx.). un-numbered 28 single-sided leaves, reproduced on untrimmed handmade paper for the Department of Science and Art in photo-lithography by W. Griggs from the 1627 original, printed by George Griveau. Illustrated title-page and over 100 illustrations, principally of ornate lock escutcheons and keys. Book withdrawn and sold from Hampstead Public Library with occasional small oval embossed stamp-impressions, otherwise very good internally. The original binding of beige cloth-covered boards/brown title has, frankly, seen better days being stamped and somewhat stained, especially to the back board, and with a fragmented spine and detached front free endpaper.
