Paris: Joseph Barbou 1st thus., 1754. Hardcover. Good. Copperplate frontis + engraved added title + 6 plates by Frans van Mieris engraved in reduced size here by Cl. Duflos.. Duodecimo (16x9.5cm) contemporary 3-colour marbled leather gilt (spine leather very worn, defective at hinges, some flaking as often with marbled leathers when acidic colours used), All Edges Gilt. Fine original marbled endpapers with Clifton College bookplate and donor's name S[amuel S[tanley] Marling [of Stanley Park, Stroud 1864-1963]. Frontis + engraved title +xxxvi (inc. printed title with woodcut printer's mark, preface, life of Lucretius, editions catalogue etc.) +288pp inc. variant readings at end. Pages crisp and clean throughout. *As usual with Barbou classics, a handsome printing, with nice engraved head and tailpieces, fine plates and pretty initials.
