About This Item
HARDCOVER. SIGNED. Hand Signed and Inscribed by the author, Alice Walker, to the Half Title page in her earlier clear script style signature. She wrote: "To John Don, Sincerely, Alice Walker 4/73". FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING copy. Very Nice condition and well-preserved book with a first state Dust Jacket. First Edition/First Printing copy with "First Edition" printed on the copyright page. NOT Remaindered. NOT otherwise Inscribed, NOT Ex-library, NOT Book Club Edition, NOT Price clipped ($5.95). Looks like it was never read and only opened to Sign. The book cover shows slight toning and handling wear but has no tears or creases. NOT signed on a PUBLISHER tipped-in, laid-in page, or bookplate as many books are today! (Note: Publishers are now attempting to pass off books as "Signed" by inserting author-signed sheets at the time of printing!). Dust jacket is in great condition for a book 40 years old! First Edition, First Printing copy, hand SIGNED to the half-title page by Alice Walker. Publication date: 1973. No foxing on the edges. Interior pages are white, clean, and unmarked with just a hint of toning to the page edges. The boards are tight. No names, writing, underlining, highlighting, creases, prior owner inscriptions, bookplates, etc. Alice Walker won the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award for her novel The Color Purple.
