A complete run in 39 issues (in 36 fascicules, most issues 46-50 pp. each) of the sometimes satirical monthly French magazine on sexual politics, co-founded and edited by Gérard Ponthieu, covering a wide range of topics such as family planning, the history of the speculum, syphilis, pleasure, homosexuality, sexual repression in China, prostitution, acupuncture, Wilhelm Reich, pornography, sex shops, prison, bioenergy, sex education, aphrodisiacs, and many other subjects. Illustrated profusely throughout from drawings, cartoons, and photographs. 4to. Original illustrated saddle-stapled wrpps., some light edgewear and rubbing. Paris 1975-1980. The publication of Sexpol was inspired by Wilhelm Reich, one of the forefathers of the sexual revolution and the mind behind "Sex-Pol counseling", a mix of "psychoanalytic counseling, Marxist advice, and contraceptives" associated with the German Society of Proletarian Sexual Politics (Sex-Pol). The inside back cover of the first three issues contains a sort of manifesto for Sexpol's publication, titled "Itinéraire Balisé Pour (S)explorateurs Prudents. Item 10 from the "itinerary" states: "La revue SEXPOL va: exprimer les luttes menées partout pour une sexualité libre; fournir des élements concrets (enquêtes, témoignages, interviews, etc.) destinés à définir une politique sexuelle - qui ne soit pas l'appendice sexuel de la politique; dénoncer la récupération idéologique et marchande de la sexualité." Very scarce; as of May 2019, WorldCat locates only a single run in a North American institution, and a second holding of just a single issue.
