A very scarce account of ballooning by a man probably better remembered as the author of \i A Ride to Khiva: Travels and Adventures in Central Asia\i0 (1876) and \i On Horseback Through Asia Minor \i0 (1877). An adventurer and British Army intelligence officer, the very picture of a Victorian imperialist hero, he met his end in hand-to-hand fighting at the Battle of Abu Klea.Title- and last pages a little spotted and creased. Very good.
