Subtitled " A Biographical and Bibliographical Summary of the World's Most Eminent Authors, including the Choicest Extracts and Masterpieces from their Writings." Black leather corners and spine, gilt titling and decoration on spine, marbled boards and end papers, top text block edge is gilt, other edges are untrimmed, quite a few pages are uncut, black and white frontispiece with captioned tissue-guard, black and white decorative panels precede each chapter, illustrated with sepia plates, 482 pages. Light wear to edges, lower spine end worn through, edges of marbled boards slightly darkened, but colours are bright and clean, text block edges slightly darkened, otherwise this extremely handsome book is in great shape for its age - binding is tight, colours clear and bright.
