About This Item
Toronto & Winnipeg: Harlequin Books, 1957. First Edition . Soft cover. Very Good. This book was originally published in 1925 as "The Gaunt Stranger". This is the first Harlequin-Pan printing. The interior of the book is clean and complete, with slightly darkened paper. The card covers show light wear, but are overall in very good condition. The attached scan gives a better idea of condition. Synopsis: The Ringer is a killer who has terrified London, but his mastery of disguise has kept his real identity a secret. Maurice Meister was a tricky lawyer mixed up with the Ringer. Now young Detective-Inspector Alan Wembury is taking over the Deptford police division, and is hoping to marry Mary Lensley, who has recently become Meister's secretary. Meister, who had failed to protect The Ringer's sister during his absence, will be the next victim, and Wembury is drawn into a fierce battle with a criminal mastermind.
