Part of "The Manhattan Young People's Library" series; not dated (c1910); 16mo; pp. [8], 11-234; pictorial cloth; black title to spine; illustrated with numerous full-page color and in-line b&w engravings; spine cover faded; head and tail of spine curling; general fading to boards; corners somewhat rubbed; a few minor soil spots scattered mostly to first and last free page, rest of text clean; name plate to front cover verso. The present work contains 10 of Irving's tales - Rip Van Winkle, The Inn Kitchen, The Specter Bridegroom, Christmas, The Stage-coach, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, The Christmas Dinner, Philip of Pokanoket, and The legend of Sleepy Hollow. Washington Irving was an American author and historian in the early 19th century. He was one of the first American writers to earn acclaim in Europe. He was a great proponent of stronger laws to protect American writers from copyright infringement.
