Illustrated DJ clean, showing light wear top and bottom back edges, very small chips to head and tail. DJ preserved in archival cover.. From the Progress Soviet Authors Library. "Anton Semyonovich Makarenko was a Russian educator and novelist. The Road to Life, in which Makarenko describes life in the Gorky Colony and his pedagogical system, was begun in 1925 and completed in 1935. The language of the book... gives subtle psychological descriptions of the pupils and teachers in the colony.
