(minor dustsoiling, shelfwear), still VG/VG copy. First edition, thus, of the author’s first science fiction novel, and first title in the Hainish cycle, featuring an entirely new updated introduction by the author.

The first separate edition was hardcover edition for libraries in 1975, which did not have a dust jacket. This is technically the second hardcover edition, but it's also the first one that looks like a proper novel. This is also the first of the Hainish novels, a cycle that ended with The Left Hand of Darkness and The Dispossessed. With a new introducton by Le Guin written for this edition and a few textual changes. 136 pages. First printing of this edition, with a numberline ending in 1. A fine copy in a jacket that would be fine but for a bit of fading at the spine. Surprisingly uncommon.
