The Rockefellers: An American Dynasty by Peter Collier and David Horowitz, from the personal library of First Lady Mamie Eisenhower.. Octavo, 746pp. Black cloth, title in gilt on spine. A book club edition with embossed mark on back panel. Clean text throughout, previously read, solid text block. In publisher's dust jacket, some wear at hinges, closed tears along top edge, a very good example. Signed on the half title, Nancy Johnson, in Mamie Eisenhower's hand. Includes a note from the desk of Mrs. Dwight Eisenhower: "February 21, 1977 / Dear Nancy - Thank you for letting me keep 'The Rockefellers' book so long - Many interesting passages to me - MDE." A unique association copy. After the death of President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1969, Mamie Eisenhower continued to reside at their home in Gettysburg, PA. As her health began to suffer, she moved to an apartment in Washington, DC to be closer to family. She died in 1979, two years after reading this book.
