The next section is a passage-by-passage interpretation of the title "Concerning the Aquilia" from the Digest. (The texts are printed with parallel English translations.) This is followed by a systematic exposition of the Roman law of damage to property. The book concludes with a useful summary that provides a survey of the subject and indicates the location of key passages and topics. Erwin Grueber was a reader in Roman law in the University of Oxford. He wrote an introductory essay to Rudolf Sohm's important The Institutes; A Textbook of the History and System of Roman Private Law (1892).
