Octavo. 319p. index. frontispiece, plates, bibliography, includes two folding maps including those of Africa and the map of Abyssinia(one map with a closed tear) The story begins with the picture of two stout-hearted Portuguese gentlemen starting out at the behest of their king to search the world for the fabulous empire of the mythical Prester John. One man dies on the way, the other presses on reaching the dominions of the Negus of Abyssinia after three years of wandering. be believed he had reached his goal. A very nice copy bound in green cloth, spine lettered and ruled in black, in the elusive and seldom seen pictorial dust jacket with chipping to head, a couple of small closed edge tears and some light finger soiling.
