About This Item

Signet Pub. NY. 1955 1st paperback print.. Paperback. Movie tie-in ed. inclds. the play + intro. by the playwright along with 8pgs. of stills from the movie. This was the film that introduced Anna Magnani to a wide American audience and of course won her a well deserved Oscar. There is a light dent to top & bott. of cover which is mirrored to some pgs., otherwise this is a tight and uread copy. Also included is a large 24pg. souvernir program from the original Broadway production that starred Maureen Stapleton, Eli Wallach, Don Murray and a young Sal Mineo who is pictured in one of the photos. The front cover has a lovely silk screen three color illustration and the covers are detached. Illustrated throughout with many photos. There is old tape stains to the corners of the front cover and an old tape stain to the verso of the front cover.and the last page has been glued into the program in the wrong order. Also some minor chipping to the bottom of the margin of the last page. From later in the run as there are critical quotes on the back cover. Good. Also included are two playbills one is from a British production from 1959 that starred Sam Wanamaker & Lea Padovani and the other is a playbill for Circle In The Square revival from 1995 that starred Mercedes Ruehl and Anthony LaPaglia. Also laid in is a fold over ticket annoucement for the last revival from the fall of 2019 that starred Marisa Tomei. Sold as a collection only.
