London: Oxford University Press 1964. (Hardcover) 333pp. Very good plus in very good plus dust jacket. Green cloth with gilt and red lettering to the spine. Bibliography, chronology, notes. The dust jacket is faded along the spine, there is a small chip to the top of the front panel, and there is a 1964 postage stamp on the front free endpaper. "Roxana, edited and introduced by Mrs. Jane Jack, is reprinted from the British Museum copy of the rare first edition of 1724. The novel, as its sub-title, the Fortunate Mistress, suggests, is an account of the vicissitudes of fortune in a woman, beautiful, ambitious, unscrupulous, to some extent the victim of circumstance, but on the other hand cunning enough to use both people and events to further her ambition".
