In original publishers laminated boards, mild warping to boards, light soiling, else a about fine to very good plus copy. Signed by Formula One and Indy 500 Champions; Phil Hill and Sam Hanks. Additionally signed by Bob Estes, Joe Gesma, Gordon Schroeder, Andy Furci, Joe Henning, and Rex Mays Jr. Signed by author Art Bagnall. All inscribed to California automotive author, curator James Buckley Duffy III of radio pioneer Willet H. Brown's famous California automotive collection. James B. Duffy was from the famous California Carrillo family and the cousin of actor Leo Carrillo, the original star actor for The Cisco Kid. Philip Toll Hill Jr. - (April 20, 1927 – August 28, 2008) was a champion American race car driver and the only American race car driver to win the Formula One World Drivers' Championship. Sam Hanks - (1914 -1994)was a champion American race car driver and winner of the 1957 Indianapolis 500. He is also winner of the 1947 Carb Night Classic known in the early days as the "Night Before the 500" and the winner of the 1950 " Indy Car" known before as the "AAA Championship". Bob Estes was a race car driver and a Lincoln-Mercury car dealer in Inglewood for many years, was a legend in the Indy car circles. He entered cars in every AAA or U.S. Auto Club championship and sprint car race between 1950 and 1960. Estes was named to the 2001 Sprint Car Hall of Fame. His sprint cars won the Midwestern championships in 1953, '54 and '56 and again in 1959. Joe Gemsa - was a champion sprint car racer during the 1940s-50s, he raced at the Southern Ascot track (part of the famous Ascot Park where motorcyclist Evel Knievel did his first stunt!) was a legendary mechanic and later manufactured racing equipment. It is believed that he had built a hundred plus cylinder head conversions for the Ford T, A and B four bangers (cylinders). Andy Furci was a midget car racer from the 1940s-70s and the 1947 ARA Midget Track Record Holder for the Freeport Speedway in New York. Gordon Schroeder - pioneer Indy car fabricator and mechanic. Joe "J.C." Henning - one of the most famous pioneer American automotive artists in the history of hot rods and racers. He was one of the top model kit car designers in the world! Rex Mays Jr. - the son of pioneer race car driver Rex Houston Mays, Jr., (1913-1949). He was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 1995. Cover art by Joe Henning. Al "Mousie" Marcellus was a crew chief, mechanic, operations manager who was the partner of the famous race car driver "Wild Willie" Borsch,theystarted racing in Altereds in 1960 with the Winged Express (Marcellus & Borsch) built by Willie and Al. Borsch passed away in 1991. Willie Borsch was known as the "One Armed Bandit" as he was know to use a "prosthetic arm" which rested outside the driver's seat "trucker style" for publicity stunts during racing events. Borsch was inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 1992. He was also rated as one of NHRA's 50 greatest drivers. Cover photo by Bob McClurg.
