About This Item

London: Hutchinson, 1987. First edition. Hardback. Fine/Very Good. Amanda Faulkner. The book is in near fine condition with the merest spots of discolouration on the page edges. The dust jacket is in very good condition with just a small vertical tear to the base of the spine (about 1.25cms). In this delightful novella illustrated by Amanda Faulkner, Gabriella Sumpter, gracious of form and nimble of mind, is dead. But from beyond the grave her voice returns to recall the details of what she herself calls 'the course of a totally selfish and most agreeble life'. Gabriella is a marvellous creation, very much in the tradition of Fay Weldon's unquenchable heroines.
