Inside clean and tidy, with some light foxing throughout. Binding is sound with no shaking or loose plates. Overall in good condition. 290 x 230 mm (11½ x 9 inches) Première édition, deuxième édition reliée en toile bleue, avec le titre et la décoration en noir. The complete second half of the year, including the scarce Tricolour issue, which was published in blue, white and red. Binding and end papers are spotless. The newspaper is clean and tidy, with a few pages uncut. Slightly darkened and some minor edge wear, but overall an excellent example. Le Nain Jaune was a pro-Bonaparte political newspaper, openly displayed on Napoleon's return. At the second return of the Bourbons, the newspaper was suppressed. In 1816 Cauchois-Lemaire had fled to Belgium and the newspaper was published from there. Amsterdam:: for the widow of Joannes van Someren, 1682. Four engraved plates which were used to illustrate Tavernier's 'Les Six Voyages'. Each is loosely attached to a paper backing sheet. Slight darkening and with foxing, but overall are in good condition. The plates include a wizard bringing a small tree to life; a frantic fakir stabbing 13 Dutch sailors to death; a King waiting with bow and arrow, ready to kill a tied up Englishman; and an unlabelled plate, which shows thieves being bricked up in punishment; although strangely, one has been given his pipe to smoke! 170 x 140 mm (6¾ x 5½ inches). Mounted on Manilla paper, 40 full-page colour pictures. Presumably a children's book including a pictorial alphabet of Christian characters from Rebekah to Noah, and Moses to Zacharias; plus many full-page colour illustrations. London: Information of the People, 1745. A nice copy of this first edition. Bound in (probably) 1960's half brown leather with gilt titles and with light brown buckram boards. A touch of rubbing only, otherwise in excellent condition. Internally clean and tidy with a touch of darkening only. To the inside board is the bookplate of the Writers Library in London. Despite its name, this library belonged to the Jesuit Mission in London and the bookplate bears their insignia. No other library marks. [xiv], 466 pages. 180 by 105mm (7 by 4¼ inches).
