Chicago: American Bible House, (1895). First Edition. Small octavo. Publisher's blue cloth boards, lettered in black; floral endpapers; [6],364,(3)pp; illus. Small ownership label and a circular blank sticker to front endpapers, else a tight, Near Fine copy in the original publisher's cloth. Romance set against the background of a labor strike in San Francisco. The strikers are portrayed as "anarchists" and the heroine, while winning the heart of the handsome factory manager, succeeds in breaking the strike. Missed by Blake (The Strike in the American Novel). WRIGHT III 410, noting that later editions appeared without publisher's imprint.
