SIGNED. 182pp. Octavo [23.5 cm] Brown leatherette with gilt stamped titles on the front cover and backstrip, and a gilt stamped pioneer wagon design on the front cover. Near fine. Very light scratching to the extremities. Signed by Charles Kelly on the limitation page. Number 23 of a limited edition of one hundred twenty-eight signed and numbered copies. One of the best histories of the pioneer trails to California, dealing in detail with the Hastings Cutoff. Emigrants following the Hastings Cutoff met with disaster and the Cutoff was responsible for the deaths of nearly half the members of the Donner Party.
