Robert Fitzgerald, a 17th-century scientist and physicist, published a short treatise on the distillation of salt water. Along with Robert Boyle, Fitzgerald published this work to demonstrate the advantages of water distilling. This treatise also inspired further supplements by Boyle discussing experimentation with salt and fresh water.
