About This Item

The First UK printing published by Chatto and Windus, London in 1932. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Marbled cloth boards with gilt titling and decorations to the spine. The gilt remains very bright. Toning to the text-block and page edges with light offsetting to the end-papers. Free from inscriptions. Four pages of adverts to the rear as called for. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good+ condition with light edge wear and some rubbing in places to the rear panel. The spine is toned with some fading of the blue lettering and some rubbing and light staining. The wrapper remains very bright in the removable Brodart archival cover. Fifteen short stories, including 'Elinor Barley', 'Some World Far From Ours' et al. with the title story being a sequel to the novel 'Mr Fortune's Maggot'. A very elusive early title more-so with the wrapper, from this acclaimed author. Reissued by 'The Tarturus Press' in 2000 with the REVIEW: 'This collection is by no means genre horror, but for those of you that may be unfamiliar with this brilliant author, this may serve as an excellent introduction to her work.' (John Pelan, Hellnotes). Collectible. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
