N.p.: April, 1945. on off white cardboard. Slight smudging in margins, else fine and bright. Approximately 12 x 12 inches image area; with margins 17 x 14-1/2 inches. Executed in water colour in browns, red, green, yellow and gray Signed lower right "J. Parrish." Also inscribed and signed in lower right margin by Parrish. Artwork stamped on back "received Tribune Engraving Room 1945 Apr 4PM 7 25 Caricatured among the "Big World Star Diplomats" are Franklin D. Roosevelt (who would die six days after the cartoon's publication) and others. The cartoon was featured on the front page of the Chicago Daily Tribune Friday, April 6, 1945. The conference opened in San Francisco 25 April, 1945 with 46 nations to which were added the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, the newly liberated Denmark and Argentina, thus delegates of fifty nations in all. The Charter was unanimously approved 25 June, and signed the next day. "Copyright 1945 By the Chicago Tribune" printed at foot of illustration in the newspaper.
