First printing of the third edition. 12mo; original publisher's blind-embossed brown cloth, lettered in gilt on spine; 6,307pp; 4pp publisher's catalog bound in between front pastedown and free endpaper (dated November, 1850). General light rubbing to cloth; corners exposed, with a bit of fraying to cloth at spine ends; Very Good - a sound and attractive copy. The first printing of the Third Edition, entirely re-set, and the first edition of TSL to have been printed from stereotype plates. One thousand copies printed. Later printings of this edition are designated by an 1851 date on the title page. CLARK A.16.3.a.
