Boston: James H Earle Publisher, 1900 A nice copy, very slightly shaken, some foxing to base of front pages and around stitching at contents page. Some aging to decorated end papers. B & W illustrations with second one loose. Blue decorated cloth boards, with scarlet ribbon and art deco design bordering the title. Bright gilt lettering to front and spine. Some rubbing to head and heel of spine otherwise boards are in excellent shape given the books age. Inscription on first free end paper 'Presented to Mrs T.C.Mallory by Miss Ermina Bragden of Eastman Ma About January 1900 ( corrected to 1901) Scene of the narrative is this neighbourhood'. (The book opens in Silveton on the banks of the Penobscot river so assuming this is the neighbourhood mentioned)
