1879 1ed Stoliczka Second Yarkand Mission INDIA Blanford Illustrated Animals

Ferdinand Stoliczka was a 19th-century Moravian paleontologist known for his extensive studies of zoology and geology. One of his most prolific and important studies was that of the Second Yarkand Mission, a voyage though India studying over 500 different animals. British naturalist William T Blanford took note of Stoliczka's studies, particularly that of mammals. Blanford published 'Fauna of British India' which described known animals throughout India.

This incredibly rare first edition of 'Mammalia' is beautifully illustrated with 29 engravings, many of which are in full color, of indigenous animals such as Himalayan mountain goats and rodents.
