Cecil Palmer was known in London from 1900-1925 as the publisher, or co-publisher, of little pocket books of calendars with a saying or quote for every day of the year. He published an Oscar Wilde calendar, a Thomas Hardy calendar, a Charles Dickens calendar--his best-seller was his G.K. Chesterton calendar.
This is his Scots' Calendar, published in 1915 with Frank Palmer, who I assume was his brother. It is "A Quotation from Scotland's Master Minds for Every Day in the Year".
It is 93 pages with a paper cover bearing the Scottish thistle. Inside, each page is rimmed in an orange design, by W.S. Lear, who worked on A Calendar of Philosophy with Frank Palmer.
The cover, which is simple brown paper, is a little frail; the binding is sound, the inside is perfect. At the back, there is a glossary of Gaelic words and their meanings.
