New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1921. First edition thus. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo. [4], v-xvi, [2], 1-503, [1] pp. Black cloth with an inset illustration on the front board, gold lettering on the spine; brown topstain. Illustrated endpapers and pastedowns. An illustration on the title page, with fourteen color plates done by N.C. Wyeth. Edited by Kate Douglas Wiggin and Nora A. Smith. Allen 222. N.C. Wyeth was a student of Howard Pyle's and left an indelible influence on American book illustration and painting, with his signature style still recognizable and of great interest to collectors of books and works of art. Front hinge cracked, a name on the half-title page, and a small dampstain to the corners of a few leaves.
