Sea to Sea Cookery: Torejon Air Base, Spain

Iowa Falls, Iowa: General Publishing and Binding. Very Good+. 1980. First Edition. Softcover. Red, laminated stiff paper, plastic comb binding, faded at spine, corners tipped. A stylized Don Quixote de la Mancha theme illustrates the cover and section dividers, by Editorial Bruguera, Barcelona, Spain (else unsigned). Each recipe's contributor is identified by name and school and/or country, most are from Torejjon Spain, but I have found Okinawa, Philippines, Sardina Italy, Germany, Bermuda schools represented. Some interesting entries include: Berumda Fish Chowder, the first ingredient is 1 lg. rockfish head or 2-3 small ones; Turnip and Potato Potage; Kluski Z Kapusta Kiszona (thin potato dumplings and sauerkraut); Beef Berne and many others along with standards such as porkypine meatballs, a few granola entries, eggnog waffles etc.. Noted one long tear on pg. 90 else clean, solid copy. The school had quite an impact on it's students and families; there are many blogs and forums from former students, teachers etc. Base history, Torrejjon Air Base was originally the home of the Spanish National Institute of Aeronautics. The runway was more than doubled following the U.S. - Spanish Defense Agreement in '53 with the intention to support SAC missions. It was one of three major USAF Cold War bases in Spain. The base officially closed in 1997 but had been unoccupied for quite a while. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
