London: Alan Ross, 1967. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. Signed by Author. First UK Edition. A near fine copy in like D/W. Formerly the property of Leila Berg, the British childrens author who wrote the "Nippers" series in the 1960s as a realistic and gritty alternative to Enid Blyton. She was a close friend of J L Carr who has written a 6-line inscription: Many thanks for all the help you/ gave me over the Red Windcheater/ & for the pleasure you will give/ innumerable children who read & have/ red to them stories they can really/ understand. Jim Carr". [Note: Joseph Lloyd Carr often referred to himself as "Jim" or even "James". Inscribed copies of this book are very uncommon.
