New York, NY: Harper and Brothers, no date [circa 1847]. [Poetry] FINELY ILLUSTRATED AND BOUND. Octavo (21 x 16cm), pp.[xlviii]; 320; [iv], blank. Full red morocco binding lettered in gilt, with ornate gilt decoration to all faces, all edges gilt. Frontispiece with tissue guard, and further illustrations for each season. Gift inscription to flyleaf, light spotting throughout. Binding slightly rubbed, more so to joints. Very good. A series of four poems, with Winter appearing in 1726, and the completed book first published in 1730. Thomson is best-known for composing the lyrics to 'Rule, Britannia!'. The book contains an advertisement by Bolton Corney, 'An Account of The Life and Writings of Mr. James Thomson' by Patrick Murdoch, and 'Ode on The Death of Mr. Thomson' by William Collins as a prologue.
