William Heinemann, 1911. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG. ROBINSON, Charles. 1st Edition, 1st printing. Green cloth with gilt stamped vignette to the front and titles to the spine. Top edge green, decorative endpapers, vii(i)306 pp, plus six pages of Heinemann ads. With 8 colour plates by Charles Robinson, all with captioned tissue guards. There is some rubbing to the spine tips, corners and edges with some scuffing along the fore edge of the front board. There is some softening to the spine tips with a few small holes in the cloth and a tiny lightly rubbed patch on the gilt panel between the author and illustrator's names on the spine. There are also some (hard to see) very tiny small black spots on the title of the book on the spine and a single one millimetre spot to the front. Internally there is no name, inscription or bookplate. The binding is firm, the endpapers and couple of pages following/preceding have a little spotting and there is the occasional light handling mark. Increasingly difficult to find this is a very good first 1st Edition copy of this beautifully illustrated book.
