Cloth, P+. 388pp+4pp publishers adverts, cloth very rubbed & worn, upper hinge cracked at the pastedown gutter with the endpaper removed, a battered copy of an uncommon title. A collection of 12 short stories by the modernist author, lawyer & supporter of nationalist movements Allen Upward [ 1863 - 1926 ]. He commited suicide in 1926, and burned all his papers when the British Library refused to take them in 1917. Ezra Pound was a great admirer of his philosophical works, but felt that they were overlooked by his peers as Upward also penned light fiction.

J. W. Arrowsmith, 1111. Hardcover. Acceptable. No Edition Remarks. 388 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth. Medium cracking to hinges and gutters causing boards and binding to be loose. However, boards and pages throughout remain attached. Pages have light tanning and foxing throughout. Tears to some page edges, text remains unaffected. Previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Tears to cloth to spine.
