About This Item

New York: American Art Association, 1932. viii, 84 pp. 4to. Half brown morocco and cloth, wrappers bound in. Joints rubbed. viii, 84 pp. 4to. A landmark sale, with prices realized and, in some cases, buyer (Wells, Rosenbach, Beyer, et al), recorded in the margins. De Ricci, in his Foreword, describes this collection of 35 manuscripts and 135 books as "the most valuable and intersting to be sold by auction since the Robert Hoe sale ..." Scandal resulting from bidding arrangements made between Mitchell Kennerley and Barnet J. Beyer led to Kinnerley's dismissal by the auction house and his eventual suicide. McKay 9397
