Smithsonian Institution, Bureau of American Ethnology, Bulletin 161. First edition. Frances Densmore was an American anthropologist and ethnographer. She devoted over 50 years of study and preservation of Native American music amassing a collection of thousands of song recordings, including 2400 transcribed songs In collaboration with the Bureau of American Ethnology of the Smithsonian. Densmore "aspired to prevent the misrepresentation of Indian music in the media and the under representation of true Indian music in scientific inquiry, and she suggested that the two were linked." (Smithsonian Institute.) Condition: Corners chipped and rubbed, spine and wrappers sunned else a very good copy.
