London, UK: J M Dent & Sons, 1941. 1st Thus . Hardcover. Good/Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 1st Everyman's Library edition. In red cloth boards with blind embossed decoration and gilt titles on spine (boards are worn along lower edge; rubbed, rounded and faded at spine tips). Decorated endpapers. Internally neat and clean, a little less than bright. In its original worn and chipped dust jacket with loss at both spine ends. Translated and with an introduction by Anthony Goldsmith. No. 969 in the Everyman's Library series.

Synopsis

Sentimental Education was Gustave Flaubert's last novel published during his lifetime, and is considered one of the most influential novels of the 19th century, being praised by contemporaries George Sand, Emile Zola, and Henry James.
