A near fine copy with a touch of rubbing to extremities, page edges toned and with a few tiny stains; in an about very good dust jacket, some wear to extremities and chipping to corners and spine ends, front fold split with an approx. 3-inch split to the middle of the fold, still holding at either end, closed tear to rear panel, otherwise very bright and presents well. This coming of age story, based on the author's own previously published short story, "Phineas," explores adolescence during World War II, through the eyes of Gene, a young adult who visits his old boarding school. Knowles' first published novel and his best-known work, A Separate Peace has been the subject of frequent regarding the relationship between Gene and his friend, Finny, which many readers infer has an element of romantic attraction.
