D.Jouast, Paris, 26 October 1870 to 19 January 1871. 28 issues, 2 pp. each, without the address pages often used for the balloon post. This set was preserved among the papers of Augustin Filon, tutor to the Prince Imperial. Lettre-Journal de Paris, also known as the Gazette des Absents, was one of the newspaper-letters created during the siege of Paris, during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871. Published and written by the printer and publisher Damase Jouaust, it appeared between two and three times a week from October 22, 1870 to February 22, 1871, and a complete set has 40 issues. The letter comprised a double sheet, the first two printed pages relating the events of Paris, the last two, white, used for private correspondence. This set (without the correspondence blank pages) comprises issues: 2, 3, 4 (with supplement), 5, 7 (2, with 1 supplement), 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18 (2), 19, 20 (2), 21, 24, 25 (2), 26, 27 (2), 28, 29.
