Hardback. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Bound in half brown leather (rebacked) with new black title label, marbled original boards, and bright gilt titles to spine, this 1841 hardback First Edition is VG. 116p+144pp of original manuscript lessons for the Deaf and Dumb devised and written in copper plate by Ebenezer Chalment on lined paper, and bound in after the printed material; dated on title page 1869. Printed text begins with Address explaining that the lessons were designed for Glasgow & Yorkshire Institutions, and now offered to other Public Institutions. Printed text includes word lists, grammar exercises etc. Board corners worn and rubbed, name of front fixed endpapers, prelims. slightly chipped at coners; otherwise VG. Unique item documenting early training techniques for deaf and dumb. .
