London / Edinburgh / Dublin: William MacKenzie, 1878 Circa 1878. Six volume set, uniformly bound by SANCORSKI & SUTCLIFFE, London, for the Gardenside Bookshop. Bound in 3/4 leather and marbled paper, raised bands on gilt decorated spines, top edges gilt, with marbled endpapers. Each volumes contains 40 colour illustrations produced by Benjamin Fawcett and Alexander Francis Lydon, depicting Country Homes of the Nobility, Castles, Lodges, Historic Buildings and more, being complete with 240 illustrations, as called for. Each frontispiece has a protective tissue guard intact, with each volume containing a decorative title page, showing a colour vignette. Volume III - back cover detached, stains to front cover, with an edge damp mark throughout, not affecting the text, nor illustrations. Volume VI shows stains to front cover. Set lacks 3 spine labels, with a few chips to those intact, covers show light edge wear, hinges becoming dry, with binding and hinges tight.
