by [Dickens, Charles (subject)]: Burn, Gerald M. [engraver]
- Used
London: British Art Company, 1924. Seven. original etchings, in sepia on paper, plate size 135 x 98 mm, plus margins. In gilt edged sealed mats (31 X 25 cm), with BAC blindstamped logo in lower mat corner. One of an unknown number of sets of these seven original etchings of Dickensian scenes, each signed in the lower margin in pencil by the artist. Burn (1862-1945) is known for his paintings and etchings of maritime and architectural studies. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and Royal Society of British Artists. Each of the etchings is captioned on the mat with the building identified, and they include buildings identified with EDWIN DROOD, DAVID COPPERFIELD, PICKWICK PAPERS, THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP, as well as Dickens's birthplace, etc. OCLC locates one complete set of these etchings, which were originally accompanied by [4]pp. of prelims, at the HRC. However, there is a set at Yale and likely others scattered or broken at various repositories. GIMBEL H1019.

1942 SUPERMAN 1ed Superhero Graphic Novel DC Comic Lowther Color Illustrated"When Superman came out, it galvanized the entire industry. It's just part of the American scene. Superman is going to live forever."
― Jack Kirby, Comics Journal
Superman is one of the most popular fictional superheroes of all time, published by DC Comics. Superman appeared in various radio shows, newspaper comics, and eventually television and movie premiers. Because of his popularity, the name Superman has become synonymous with the American comic book. The book is the first novelization of a comic book character, and the first Superman story written by someone other than Jerry Siegel. It was Lowther who first provided many now-familiar details of Superman's birth and early life.
This 1942 first book edition by Random House features nine full-page illustrations with all 4 color illustrations.

1897 Henry Gray GRAY'S ANATOMY Surgery Illustrated Medicine Physician Neurology"The most comprehensive and detailed textbook on human anatomy!"
Few works go through as many editions as Henry Gray's 'Anatomy.' In 2015, "Gray's Anatomy" reached its 41st edition, and even still it is "considered to be the most comprehensive and detailed textbook on the subject!" (O'Neal, USATODAY, 2005.) This rare late 19th-century edition is considered exceedingly rare, and editions printed by Lea Brothers are very desirable to doctors and medical students still today. During the early 20th-century, there was a boom in medical understanding and knowledge. This book was a critical component in that boom, thus the reason for dozens more editions being printed! Thomas Pickering Pick, editor, is known chiefly for his edits of the 10th through 14th-editions of this work.
According to 'Heirs of Hippocrates,'
"Gray's 'Anatomy' still remains a standard textbook, and much of the original text and many of the superb anatomical… Read More
