Cambridge, MA: Houghton and Mifflin. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 1954. First Edition. Hardcover. Signed by Author . vii, [5], 2-269 pp. Inscribed by the author on the half title. Roughly opened, last two leaves unopened. Straight, clean copy, ends rubbed. Jacket spine & flap edges toned, otherwise a bright with the authors photograph on the rear panel. Warner (1910-2002) lived in Liberia during World War II, with her first husband. She was an craft artisan and author. During her time in Liberia she traveled the country escorted by local guides, meeting the villergers and learning the local crafts. This book is one of three she wrote recounting events of culture and society of the Liberian people. ; 8vo .
