Synopsis

Seven Years in Tibet is an autobiography written by Austrian mountaineer Heinrich Harrer based on his real life experiences in Tibet between 1944 and 1951. The story takes place during the Second World War and the interim period before the Communist Chinese People's Liberation Army moved into Tibet in 1950. It narrates the true story of an Austrian prisoner of war who successfully escaped his British captors in India in 1944 on the third attempt. His escape route led him across Tibet. In 1943, Heinrich Harrer, escaped captivity and made his way through the Himalayan passes to the Forbidden City of Lhasa in Tibet and finally lived for years in Lhasa becoming a tutor to the Dalai Lama.  Seven Years in Tibet  was first published in Germany before being acquired by Dutton.

About Julie's Bookshop

From humble beginnings Julie started to sell books from her garage back in 2007, since then Julie's Bookshop has grown at an impressive rate and we now have over 2 million books and other media in stock.

Still to this day the Bookshop is run by the family. We sell over a million books every year to people throughout the UK. We keep our prices to a minimum so that no book should ever have to stay on a shelf for the rest of its days. We want to see pre loved books and other media enjoyed again.

At Julie's Bookshop we only sell books that we class as very good condition or better. We pride ourselves on our quality. Our small friendly team work hard to ensure our standards are always high and this is proved by our customer feedback.

Our aim is to reduce waste that may end up in landfill. All of our books that can't be sold due to condition are always recycled. We donate a proportion of children's books to local schools and nurseries to help imagination grow in the future generation.
