Light bllue paper covered boards has one lightly bumped corner and small pin hole puncture mark to front board near bottom. Jacket has small chip with heavy creasing at head spine and moderate creasing along top and bottom of front panel and bottom. Rear panel bright and clean, shows photograph of author at top and brief bio beneath about his newspaper career. Front panel has cowboy with large black hat and bandana around neck over brown background. which has become iconic to book collectors. Text block is tight, square and clean. Page 6 has slightly larger edge than remaining leaves. If this book was read, it was done very lightly. Attractive copy of classic book which became classic film. Author's first book.
