Small Quarto (10 x 7 1/2 inches; 253 x 190 mm), [6] leaves sewn into green-brown wrappers, paper title to upper wrapper.

A short poem by revolutionary San Francisco poet Jack Hirschman. One of 250 copies printed on Curtis papers by Clifford Burke at Cranium Press. The first in the Maya Quarto series of chapbooks.

Hirschman, a former poet laureate of San Francisco, died in August 2021. He was 87 years old.

CONDITION: Some rubbing to wrappers, creasing to right edge of all the leaves, tiny stain to top of some leaves. About Very Good.

Theodore Weiss was a Princeton professor and, along with his wife, Renée Karol Weiss, the longtime editor and publisher of the legendary Quarterly Review of Literature. A nice literary association. This is the second collection of poems by Alicia Ostriker (b. 1937), who was a professor of English at Rutgers University. Some of the poems deal with pregnancy and motherhood.
