About This Item

The First UK printing published by Arthur Barker, London in 1935. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Light pushing at the spine ends with only a little age related markings to the buckram covers. The latter has been protected very well by the presence of the wrapper. Light toning to the text-block. Some offsetting to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions. The binding remains tight. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. A little edge-wear at the upper spine end. Some small closed tears to the upper spine folds have been professionally repaired to the verso. Light toning to the spine and edges. The wrapper presents very well in the removable Brodart archival cover. The first British edition of this, the author's first book and basis for the highly acclaimed 1969 movie directed by Sydney Pollack that starred Michael Sarrazin and Jane Fonda, and which went on to win an 'Academy Award' for Gig Young. Listed as a Hubin title. Scarce with such attributes. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
