First published in America twenty-eight years earlier in 1920 and in the UK in 1921, this is the second UK edition of this textIn original unclipped dustwrapper. This Side of Paradise is often regarded as one of Fitzgerald's best works. It's title is taken from a line of Rupert Brooke's poem Tiare Tahiti and follows the lives and morality of post World War I youth. Thematically the novel explores love warped by greed and status seeking. Upon its initial publication in the states, ThisSide of Paradise was extremely popular and sold out in three days. Condition: In a full cloth binding with gilt stamping to spine. Held in original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart with some bumping to the head and tail of spine. A few handling marks to boards also. Dustwrapper is also very smart with minimal bumping to the extremities. Wrap is sunned, with some handling marks and the odd spot. Just a small amount of chipping to the head and tail of spine also. Wrap is preserved in an acetate cover. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned with the odd spot throughout. Overall: NEAR FINE with a VERY GOOD INDEED dustwrapper..

Synopsis

This Side of Paradise is the debut novel of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Published in 1920, and taking its title from a line of the Rupert Brooke poem Tiare Tahiti, the book examines the lives and morality of post-World War I youth. Its protagonist, Amory Blaine, is an attractive Princeton University student who dabbles in literature and has the book's theme of love warped by greed and status-seeking.
